DEBORAH COFFY
WHO IS DEBORAH?
Born in Atlanta, raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a transplant to Central Florida, Deborah (she/they) is a daughter of Haitian Immigrants. Growing up, she was always taught the importance of hard work and perseverance. This led her to graduate from high school in three years at Land O' Lakes High School. Deborah is a mental health advocate and believes that everyone, regardless of their income, race, status, gender, or creed, should have proper access to mental health access.
While at the University of Central Florida, Deborah had the privilege to explore different opportunities in mental health, political research, social media, communications, and public relations. She has been on the Dean's List and the President's Honor Roll List. Additionally, she is a recipient of the Dorothy Walker Ruggles Scholarship, the Black Faculty and Staff Association's Legacy Award, and the Burnett Honors College's Alvin Y Wang scholarship.
From small, solo projects to creative collaborations, they are always looking for the chance to explore new opportunities and learn something new that they can apply to their personal and professional lives.
Currently, Deborah is taking a 1-3 year gap year to study for the GRE, work within research, communications, social justice, and project management, and prep for the graduate school process to get a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. After she receives her Ph.D., she wants to be a therapist, tester, assessor, and researcher and work with local, state, and federal government to bring more accessibility to mental health.
